World-Famous ‘Peace Dog’ Aloka Arrives in Nepal, Monks Plan Support for Flood Victims

Aloka, the world-famous dog known for accompanying Buddhist monks on peace walks, has arrived in Kathmandu from Thailand with the monks. First found as a stray in India in 2022, Aloka gained international attention after joining a long-distance peace walk in the United States and later travelling with monks in other countries to promote peace, kindness and compassion.

During his visit to Nepal, Aloka attended a memorial and prayer gathering at Seto Gumba in Boudha for those who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi floods. According to the provided report, the monks are also planning to support flood-affected families and animals. The group is scheduled to remain in Nepal until October 16.

Aloka’s journey highlights how compassion and kindness can connect people across borders and cultures. The planned support for flood-affected communities also brings attention to the needs of people and animals recovering from disasters.
